The section of the river between Moss Bluff and the Silver River was at one time straightened and channeled by dykes on either bank to allow muck farming. This agricultural activity contributed to considerable pollution of the river. The farming is discontinued and the river is being restored to its origional, twisting channel. THIS IS GOOD!
